Martin Harold Huddleston, age 58, of Slocum, Texas,passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2016 at Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler. He was born on February 3, 1958 in Palestine, Texas to A.L. and Barbara Weeks Huddleston. Mr. Huddleston worked for the Elkhart Farmer's Co-op, operated a feed mill, and was a rancher.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Mr. Huddleston is survived by his wife of 39 years; Sandy Story Huddleston of Slocum, Texas, 3 sons; John Robert Huddleston and wife Angie of Clifton, Texas, Martin A.L. Huddleston and wife Jennifer of Elkhart, Texas, and Terry Wayne Huddleston and wife Christin of Slocum, Texas, his mother; Barbara Weeks Huddleston of Palestine, Texas, sister: Janet Morrow of Palestine, Texas, and 2 brothers; Bobby Huddleston of Palestine, Texas and William Huddleston of Las Vegas, Nevada.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, November 17, 2016 from 6 pm to 8 pm at Rhone Funeral Home. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date with Bro. Butch Grant officiating.

Funeral services for Mr. Huddleston are under the direction of Rhone Funeral Home, 3900 S. State Highway 19, Palestine, Texas 75801.

    I’ve known the whole family for a long time just being in Slocum. Since I’ve been working at Grapeland Farm & Ranch, Martin & Sandy would come in to get feed and they were always together side by side. He was such a hoot! Him and Sandy would walk in the store and always put a smile on my face. They were always joking and laughing. Sandy my prayers go out to you and your boys. I’m so sorry for the loss of a husband and father. He was a wonderful man with such an amazing personality that was likable by anyone that he come across. I pray for strength and comfort upon you all.

  22. Sandy I am so sorry for your loss. Ya’ll were one of the first to come over and introduce yourselves to us when we bought the property next door to you. Anytime he saw me he would stop and say hello and I’ll never forget his big voice and bigger laugh. Whenever I saw one of ya’ll I knew the other half was not far away. I know this is a hard time but my prayer is for the big arms of God to hold you and your family and give you peace in your heart for the loss of Martin. I will miss talking to him.
