Funeral services for Augustus "Gus" Lewis Kennon, age 16, of Grapeland will be held at 10 o'clock on the morning of Wednesday, the 5th day of July, 2017 at First Baptist Church in Grapeland with Bro. Will Yates officiating. Interment will follow in Kennon Family Cemetery. Gus passed away on Wednesday, the 28th day of June, 2017. He was born on the 16th day of August, 2000 in Palestine, Texas to Joshua Aaron Kennon and Lorrie Ann Fitzgerald. He was a Freshman at Grapeland High School and was a proud member of the Grapeland Sandies Band. He was a polite and friendly young man and was a member of Houston County Cowboy Church.
Gus was preceded in death by his grandfather Billy Lewis Whitaker and grandparents Mary Lois and Jim C. Fitzgerald.
Gus is survived by father, Joshua Aaron Kennon of Grapeland; mother, Lorrie Fitzgerald Mars of Elkhart; step-mother, Jessica Pursley of Slocum; sister, Chelsea Kennon of Houston; brothers, Josey Kennon of Lufkin, Michael Kennon of Grapeland, Lucas Kennon of Grapeland, and Conner Kennon of Slocum; grandparents, Carolyn Whitehead of Grapeland, Martha McBay of Grapeland, Danny and Lee Watkins of Montana, Jimmy Fitzgerald of Killeen, and Jewel Whitaker of Tomball.
Pallbearers will be Josh Kennon, Josey Kennon, Michael Kennon, Lucas Kennon, Danny Watkins and Larry Mars.
Funeral services for Augustus "Gus" Lewis Kennon are in care of Rhone Funeral Home, 3900 S. State Hwy 19, Palestine, Texas.
