Thomas Wesley Prestridge

Thomas W. Prestridge, age 70, of Palestine, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, the 7th day of November, 2017. He died at St. David's South Austin Medical Center in Austin following a long illness.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Murtie Teel Rosser of Palestine; father, William C. Prestridge of Elkhart; sister, Martha Prestridge of Dallas, brother, Roger D. Prestridge of Maine.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sheila Ivins Prestridge of Palestine; daughter, Becky Little and husband Chris of La Grange; son, Steve Prestridge and wife Jessie of Lindale; brother, William Prestridge and wife Carol of Palestine;four grandchildren, Lauren Little and Landon Little of La Grange; and Abbie Prestridge and Cole Prestridge of Lindale, many nieces and nephews and loving aunts, uncles and cousins.

He worked for Mutual of Omaha in Dallas for several years in the late 60's and early 70's. He and his family moved back to Palestine in 1974 and he went to work for Glass Containers. Later, he worked for Westend Oil Company and then East Texas National Bank, from which he retired in December, 2005.

Mr. Prestridge was a member of Westwood Baptist Church where he served as deacon for many years and Sunday school teacher of the Learners Class for approximately 10 years.

Mr. Prestridge was born and raised in Palestine and then moved to Elkhart where he attended high school. He was an accountant most of his adult life and attended TVCC where he took accounting classes.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He worked hard all his life to provide for his family. He loved to tell jokes and laugh and make other people laugh.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six o'clock until eight o'clock in the evening on Friday, the 10th day of November, 2017 in the parlor and reflection room of Rhone Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Thomas W. Prestridge will be conducted at one o'clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the 11th day of November, 2017 at Westwood Baptist Church in Palestine with Brother Rick Dees officiating. Interment will follow in Neches Cemetery in Neches, Texas.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Jacky Cherry, Joe Harris,John Teel, David Teel, Scott Prestridge, and Ken Prestridge. Honorary pallbearers are Landon Little and Cole Prestridge, grandsons.

In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions, in Tom Prestridge's Memory, may be directed to Westwood Baptist Church Scholarship Fund, 1809 Bassett Road, Palestine, Texas 75803.
