Lula Pearl Martin, age 87, of Elkhart passed away on Tuesday, the 29th day of May, 2018 at Christus Mother Francis Hospital in Tyler. She was born on the 10th day of November, 1930 in San Saba County to Charles Joseph Tarver and Grace Marie Bulcher. Pearl loved to paint and taught art classes at various senior citizen centers.
Pearl is preceded in death by her parents and daughter Shandy Oldham. She is survived by her daughters, Sherry Stevenson of Elkhart and Judy; grandchildren, Heather Thurman, Angel Peavy, Mark Oldham and 8 great-grandchildren.
Lula will be cremated and interred in her family cemetery in San Saba, Texas.
Cremation services for Lula Pearl Martin are in care of Rhone Funeral Home, 3900 S. State Highway 19, Palestine, Texas.

I am shocked and saddened to just now learn of the passing of this dear sweet lady, my friend Ms. Pearl. She was the most kind, caring, and generous woman I’ve ever known. Her warm sense of humor brightened everyone’s day. Â She gave so much to Meals on Wheels and helped anyone interested in painting. Â Painting was her passion. Â To Sherry and your family, Â I am deeply sorry for your loss. Â Just know that your Mom was loved by many, and will never be forgotten, but truly missed. Â I was blessed to have known her. Â She was a jewel. Â You are in my thoughts and prayers during this sad time. Â But she suffers no more thank God. Â May you now RIP Ms. Pearl.Â
