Joann Steadman
April 8, 1933 ~ March 29, 2020
Surrounded by her joy, her family, Joann Steadman, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, the 29th day of March 2020. Born on the 8th day of April 1933, to James and Dell McIver, she lived all her life in Anderson County and attended Elkhart schools before marrying the love of her life, Harold, in December of 1948. He preceded her in death in 2003.
She attended Nixon Business College and began working at Elkhart State Bank, where she enjoyed assisting her customers for 36 years. She loved her co-workers and still spoke fondly of her "ladies at the bank". She was always grateful for Mr. Parker giving her the opportunity of such a rewarding career.
She was a faithful servant at Tabernacle Baptist Church, serving on countless committees, teacher, treasurer, wherever or whatever the need. She loved her church family. She also served as treasurer for Myrtle Springs Cemetery Board for many years.
Joann's life was an example of Ephesians 4:32, "And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another just as God also forgave you in Christ". She saw the best in people and spoke the best of people. She was kind, generous, loving, and selfless and an extremely hard worker.
Joann loved to cook and if you were one of the many who sat at her table, you knew she was an excellent "blue ribbon" cook.
Left to love her and cherish her memory are her children, Ronny (Dru) Steadman and Susan (Jim) Rowe; her grandchildren, Rhonda (Clay) Cooper and Jaci Jordan; Ryan (Shawna) and Maddie Steadman; Robyn (Landon) and Laynee, Londyn, Layken Holland; brother, Bob (JoeAnn) McIver and special nieces Sonya and Kathy.
Due to current concerns surrounding the health of our community, the family will celebrate Joann's life with a private graveside service on Tuesday, the 31st day of March 2020 at Myrtle Springs Cemetery with Bro. Charles Pyle officiating and Bro. Dennis Ivey offering songs of comfort.
Special thanks to Dr. Gorby and TruCare staff for the excellent care given to our mom.
Funeral services for Joann Steadman are in care of Rhone Funeral Home, 3900 S. State Highway 19, Palestine, Texas.
You are welcome to leave message for the family on our website.

Dear Ronnie, Dru, and rest of the family: I am so very sorry to hear of Mrs. Joann’s passing. I have so many memories of her love and kindness to our family through the years. She was my children’s FAVORITE Sunday School teacher when we use to come up for weekends before we moved here. I know she is worshipping and celebrating around the Throne after entering Heaven’s gates, and I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that she received a “Well done, good and faithful servant” from the Lord! I will be praying for you all in the days and weeks ahead. Much love to you!
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Mrs Steadman’s sweet family.
Prayers for the family. Cherish all the precious memories. Joann was such a sweet person …love you Susan
Susan and family. You are in my thoughts and prayers. May God give each of you comfort during this time.
Joann was such a wonderful lady. She loved her God and she loved her family. They were her pride and joy! She was a very loving and caring person who always saw the best in people. I have so many happy and fun memories of our families as I grew up. One of the fondest was going camping at Lake Tawakoni. I had the privilege of working with Joann for 30 years.
She was such a role model for me. We now have one more angel looking down at us and guiding us. Prayers for all her family for God’s comfort and grace.
Everyone loved Joann. She was the sweetest, and caring lady I knew.  I never heard her say anything bad about anyone. Even visiting her in the nursing home I found her to be more concerned about Bob and I, than herself. I know she is in heaven singing with Bob’s mom.  Love you guys and sorry for your grief.
Going to miss this sweet lady. She always treated me like I was part of the family. Praying for Ronnie, Susan and all of the kids.

Joann was a beautiful Lady with a warm beautiful heart. I have missed Her when I have to go into the Bank. She was loved by so many.. Prayers for Her Family.
I remember one of JoAnns favorite request for a song was from Gena, Come Home it’s Suppertime. She had such a beautiful spirit. We Loved you Ms JoAnn.
I am so saddened to hear of her passing. I loved Mrs Steadman. She was my Sunday school teacher for many years. When it was time to move up into Evelyn’s class I stayed right where I was. I told Mrs Steadman she couldn’t get rid of me but I don’t think she minded. The bank was never the same when she retired going in and not seeing her sweet smile. She truly was a sweetheart. She is now in heaven with my mom singing duets like they did at Tabernacle.
Dear Ronny, Dru, Susan, and all the family . JoAnn was the kindest, sweetest, and loving lady I have met!! She brightened the day for all who came in contact with. I will never forget her devotion she had for God, family, and also her friends. You will be in our prayers and we are sorry that we couldn’t convey our love for her and y’all in person. We will always remember and love JoAnn, and all of our love and prayers are extended to you at this time. May the Lord comfort and hold you all in your time of grief. Love to you all♥ï¸â™¥ï¸
