Kellie, I’m so very sorry to hear this. I have so many memories from working with you and David so long ago. My sincerest condolences and wishing God’s blessing s and peace for your family.
It has been twenty two years since I first met David Reeder. I, and many others in emergency services, cannot hear mention of his name without some reverence for who he was and what he brought to our profession. “Reeder”, as most of us knew him, was rigid, disciplined, and expected nothing less than the best from each of us. He would not suffer those that neglected or minimized their duty. This was likely due to his life experience and it made him a respected leader. He was the most quick-witted individual that I have encountered and his ability to make light of any situation, regardless of the severity, could illicit a laugh from even the most serious or exhausted in his charge. He was without a doubt the toughest soul that an EMS uniform has ever dressed. Despite the challenges that came from his failing health, his sense of duty would not allow him to yield. It was difficult to see him during that time, knowing that he reported for shift in an obvious discomfort that would have left any one of us weeping in the corner. Those of us that knew him well were forever changed by his leadership and I hope that he felt proud in our successes. I have learned from some of the greatest in emergency services and David Reeder was certainly one of those people.
Kellie and family, I am so sorry for your loss. You have been in my prayers and will continue to be. He will be greatly missed and my prayer be that God’s comfort and peace find you in the coming days. God’s blessings go with you sweetheart.â¤ï¸
