December 15, 1947 ~ April 27, 2025

Barbara Allen Barron, of Elkhart, Texas, passed away peacefully at the age of 77, on Sunday, the 27th day of April 2025 at Christus Mother Frances, in Tyler, Texas. She was born on the 15th day of December 1947 in Houston, Texas to parents Young N. Barron and Hollon Ann Greer.

Barbara's early life in Houston laid the foundation for her outgoing nature and her ability to connect with people from all walks of life. She grew up in a loving family and shared an unbreakable bond with her siblings. Her brothers, Lee Barron and his wife Judy, and David Barron and his wife Letitia, along with her brother-in-law Thom Smyser, survive her. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Vaughn "Sarge" King, and her sister, Mary Smyser.

Those who knew Barbara will remember her as a woman of many passions. She was a great cook whose recipes brought comfort and joy to many gatherings. Her beautiful singing voice was often the highlight of family reunions and community events. Barbara had the unique ability to make friends easily, as she never met a stranger. She was genuine and authentic, talking and acting the same no matter where she was or who she was with. This authenticity earned her the love and respect of everyone she met.

Barbara's zest for life was evident in her love for over-the-road trucking, which she enjoyed alongside her late husband for 20 years. Together, they traversed the highways of 48 states and Canada, creating a tapestry of memories that she cherished deeply. Her adventurous spirit was matched by her love for her feline companions, and she was never afraid to speak her mind, a trait that endeared her to many.

Above all, Barbara was a loving and kind person, with a sense of humor that could light up a room. She was forever grateful for all she had in life, and her gratitude was reflected in her actions and her warm, generous spirit. She loved her family fiercely and she will be greatly missed by all.

The family honored Barbara's wishes with no services and had her laid to rest by her late husband Vaughn "Sarge" King at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Elkhart, Texas.

  3. I have known Barbara for many years . Over the years we lost contact with each other, but when we came across our paths or on the phone, she was always the same bubbly, funny, crazy, straight shootin self and that’s what I loved about her!! My prayers to David, Lee, and other family members for your loss. She was truly a family oriented woman and she loved them with all her heart. Praying for comfort and peace to each of you in the days ahead. Love you David, Letitia, Lee and may you always have the fond memories and times to bring you joy. God Bless. We will miss you Barbara.♥️

  4. My twin sister and I loved us some Barbara Barron. Marilyn, at one time was married to Lee Barron. Barbara took us under her wings and when we got pregnant she was so good to us. She gave us a huge baby shower and then after Robert Lee and Tammy were born she continued her generosity. She was always at Gibson’s buying us baby stuff. She looked and acted just like her mother, Mrs. Holan Barron. They were so kind to us. We will always love and be a part of our Barron famiy.
