Garvis "Eloise" Johnson, of Elkhart, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2025, at the age of 91. She was the daughter of Homer Tyler and LaMerle Tyler Crow. She is now celebrating in the presence of her Lord and Savior.

Eloise was a lady of gracious hospitality, a heart for encouraging others, and a home that embraced family and friends. She was a loving and passionate wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who touched the lives of many with her kindness and grace. She had the most beautiful tender heart.

Eloise enjoyed her early years as Little League "Team Mother" and being Santa Fe P.T.A. President was a job she took great pride in. She was always involved in her children's school activities, and she retired from U.T.M.B. Bookstore. Eloise was a lifelong member of Arcadia Baptist Church. We called her "Gran", and she will always be our favorite "Red Head".

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ollie Johnson, sisters Wanda Underwood, Melissa Riehl and her brother Homer Tyler, Jr.

Eloise is survived by her son Tom Johnson (Spring); daughters, LeeAnn Johnson (Lowell) and Connie Davis (Milton); sisters, Paula Johnston and Dancie Teague; grandchildren, Britt Davis (Kristen), Brad Davis (Jenn), Josh Lefevre (Susan), Cal Johnson; and her great-grandchildren, Matthew Pilkington, Grant Davis, Madison Pilkington, Brooke Davis, Sommer Davis, Cannon Davis, Jet Johnson, Will Lefevre, and Isabella Lefevre. She also leaves behind many special nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.

Above all our mother was a Christian lady who loved the Lord. Her crown is heavy for all the good she did on this earthly planet. We know we will see you again in Heaven when the trumpet sounds for us.

At mom's request, there will not be any services.

Cremation services for Garvis "Eloise" Johnson are in care of Rhone Funeral Home, 3900 S. State Highway 19, Palestine, Texas. Please visit her online memorial tribute at www.rhonefuneralhome.com, where words of comfort and condolence may be shared electronically with her family.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. One of the best ladies I ever knew. My children growing up, for some reason, couldn’t say Eloise. So since we called Sweet Ollie Precious, they called her Precious’s Mother! Loved her greatly. Love you Connie!

  2. How wonderful it is that once again you are with our sweet Prince Ollie. This knowledge takes away much of the sadness of your death. I thank you for the many wonderful memories I have from the short time I knew you. Love Carole

  3. Eloise will forever be remembered for signature red hair, her spunkiness, her smile, and always knew she loved you…..no matter what. Her commitment to her family, to serve them, to love them like noone else could do. But, it’s that smiling, red head, with quick wit, that she will be remembered for. All my love goes out to Connie and Tom for their unending devotion to their mom and dad. I LOVE Y’ALL!
My condolences to all of the family.

  4. Tricia Flaniken Bouquet says:

We loved Mrs. Johnson. As a children Ken and I knew her from Little League. He played, my family took pictures. As a young girl I loved her smiles and hugs from Girls in Action. What a wonderful lady! Our condolences to your family. Hugs Tricia and Kenny Bouquet.

  5. I will always look back on memories of Aunt Eloise and smile. She made every occasion fun and joyful. That one of a kind laugh fill the room as well as our hearts. She could wrap you in her warm embrace without even touching you. I will miss you for now, but I will see you again. I love you Aunt Eloise. Jay

  6. Connie and Tom and LeAnne and family,
