Willie Walter Hogan Jr.

Willie Walter Hogan, Jr., of Palestine, Texas, went to his heavenly home on Saturday, the 1st day of August 2026, at the age of 74. He was born in Dallas, Texas on the 29th day of December 1951 to parents Walter W. Hogan, Sr. and Betty Sue Calvary Hogan.

Mr. Hogan is survived by his loving wife of over 51 years, Betty Jo Hogan; mother, Betty Sue Hogan; daughter, Rebecca Hogan; sons, Marcus Hogan and wife Jessica, Brandon Williams, and Russell Hauck; sisters, Connie Fewell, Diane Chenault; and his brother, Justin Hogan. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Kimberly Vandevander, Kylie West, Timothy Hogan, Weston Neal, Mercedes Hogan; and his great-grandchildren Brilyn Vandevander and one on-the-way.

He is preceded in death by his father, and his brother Bobby Frank Hogan.

Mr. Hogan was a devoted family man and unforgettable character. Known for his philosophy of "mind over matter," Mr. Hogan lived life with an industrious spirit and a sharp sense of humor. He spent years working in the chemical industry with KTI Chemicals Inc. and later served his community through his dedicated work with the City of Carrollton and the City of Irving Traffic Control before his retirement.

Outside of work, Mr. Hogan was a man of diverse passions. He possessed a lifelong fascination with airplanes, spent hours watching YouTube videos, and found great peace tending to his garden or waiting for a bite while fishing. He was famously terrible at math, but more than made up for it with his legendary ability to make up stories on the fly. He absolutely loved Halloween, never turned down a bowl of ice cream, and was always the life of the room. Above all, Mr. Hogan had a servant's heart. He would genuinely help anyone with anything at a moment's notice. His deepest love and ultimate purpose in life was his family, for whom he lived every single day. His laughter, storytelling, and generous spirit will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.

Friends are invited to a visitation from six o'clock until eight o'clock in the evening on Wednesday, the 5th day of August 2026 at Rhone Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted at one o'clock in the afternoon on Thursday the 6th day of August 2026 in the Rhone Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow in Cedar Creek Cemetery.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Timothy Hogan, Christopher Stiff, Weston Neal, Adrian Awalt, Marcus Hogan, Ian West, Russell Hauck, and Brandon Williams. Honorary pallbearer will be Brilyn Vandevander.
