Laura Elece Shivers

Laura Elece Shivers, age 76, of Elkhart, Texas, passed away peacefully on Thursday, the 20th day of August 2026, surrounded by her family. She was born in Palestine, Texas, on the 14th day of October 1949 to parents Reagan John Harris and Elsie Lorene Gentry Harris.
Laura was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a true prayer warrior whose faith touched the lives of everyone around her. She was a great encourager who continually reminded others to pray, trust the Lord, and keep their eyes on Him. Laura had a special way of pointing people toward the Lord and offering words of hope and encouragement when they needed them most.
Laura’s children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were truly the center of her world. She cherished every moment spent with her family and took great joy in watching them grow and making memories together. She also had a tender heart for animals and was known for rescuing and caring for those in need. She enjoyed fishing and the great outdoors.
Laura is preceded in death by her husband Ross Shivers; parents Reagan and Elsie Harris; and her sister, Thelma Marie Harris.
She leaves behind her children, Christal Carter (Wade), Misti Yorgensen (Robert), and John Camp; sister, Mary Ann King, fifteen grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren, and two on the way, numerous other family members and friends.
Graveside services to celebrate Laura Shivers’s life are to be conducted at ten o’clock in the morning on Saturday, the 22nd day of August 2026, at Land of Memory Cemetery in Palestine, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to any animal shelter of your choice in Laura’s memory.

Many years of friendship, prayer, praise & worship – laughter and sharing the Word of GOD were shared between us. Our children had close friendships and both our houses were dedicated to serving JESUS our Christ! We were family.
Laura, little Sister, you have gone on before me; I will continue to fight the good fight of faith until I see JESUS face to face.
I thank GOD for uniting us in our sisterhood, enjoy the presence of The Almighty, The Ancient of Days.
