Jeannette Hughes Johnson
November 26, 1936 ~ November 5, 2026
Jeannette Hughes Johnson of Houston, Texas, passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2026, at the age of 89.
Jeannette, a beloved wife, mother, Me-maw, friend, and mentor passed away after a life filled with kindness and adventure. Jeannette was born on November 26, 1936, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, to parents Orla Fae Hughes and Martha Eloise Hughes (Hettick). She lived in Muskogee, Oklahoma, until elementary school when her family moved to Houston where she attended San Jacinto High School and was the president of the Drill Team. She continued her education at Sam Houston College where she earned a Business Degree. While there she met the love of her life, Bobby Morris Johnson.  They lived in Houston throughout their lives.Â
She is survived by her two daughters: Donna Kay Green and husband Kenneth K. Green, and Michele Lyn Johnson; two grandkids: William R. Rackel III (Trey) and wife Sarah A. Rackel, and Amanda Marie Wiggins and husband David Wiggins Jr.; and three great grandkids: Easton Blake Rackel, Sadie Robin Rackel, and Wyatt Austin Shuman. Jeannette is preceded in death by her loving husband, Bob.Â
Jeannette was a dedicated and talented golf and tennis player. Her claim to fame is a hole in one at Pine Forest Country Club.  Beyond her weekends of playing golf with Bob, Jeannette was deeply committed to supporting others. She was passionate about her grandkids and supported them in everything they did. She would travel with them to every ball game in snow, rain, and sleet, no matter how far away the game was. Her generosity never went unnoticed for every Christmas, Easter, and all the major holidays.Â
Jeannette shared 58 years with her husband, Bob. Together they built a life of love and joy for their kids and grandkids. They were devoted, supportive, and involved parents and grandparents.  If any of them needed anything, they were always there to lend a helping hand.Â
Jeannette had many dogs over the years, but Roxie was her dog. Jeannette loved her Roxie, and that was one spoiled dog.Â
Jeannette will be deeply missed by her family, friends, caregivers, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
The family wishes to give heartfelt thanks to her caregivers for their loving support.
Graveside services to celebrate Jeannette’s life will be conducted at 12:00 P.M. on Monday, November 16, 2026, at Liberty Cemetery, Bradford, Texas, with Rev. Greg Gunnels officiating the service.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are William R. Rackell, III (Trey), David Wiggins, Jr., Scott Johnson, and Justin Johnson.
Services for Jeannette H. Johnson are in care of Rhone Funeral Home. Please visit her online memorial tribute at www.rhonefuneralhome.com, where words of comfort and condolence may be shared electronically with her family.Â

Jeannette, many of my earliest childhood memories involve you and Bob. We were lucky to have been raised across the street from you. I remember your love of dogs fondly and knew Christmas was imminent when you put your outdoor decorations up. You will be missed and I know you are comfortably with Bob once again.
