August 7, 1964 ~ May 17, 2023

Angela Mechele Brooks, of Palestine, Texas, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family on May 17, 2023, at the age of 58. Born on August 7, 1964, in Palestine, Texas, to parents Glenn Arthur Vaughan and Elinor June Middleton. Angela was known for her thoughtful, selfless, graceful, strong, happy, and faith-filled spirit that touched the lives of everyone around her.

Angela was a devoted wife to her loving husband of 41 years, Mike Brooks. Together, they raised a beautiful family and created countless memories that will be cherished by all who knew them. Angela's love for her family was evident in everything she did, from spending time at the lake to taking last-minute road trips and planning family vacations.

Angela joins her parents, Glenn and Elinor Vaughan, in Heaven.

Left to cherish all the memories that were made are her husband, Mike Brooks; daughter, Brittany Brooks; son, Dustin Brooks and wife April; sisters, Phyllis Moody, and Nancy Danner and husband Lee; brother, Gary Glenn Vaughan and wife Lizzie; grandchildren, Brianna, Brayden, Nataleigh, Cameron, and Adilynn; and one great-grandchild on-the-way. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and a host of friends.

Angela had a passion for helping others and spent many years working at various businesses around town including Christian Heritage Academy and Lipsey Ranch. Her dedication to her work and involvement in various associations were a testament to her strong work ethic and commitment to her community. She was a true example of what it means to be a servant leader, always putting the needs of others before her own.

Family was at the heart of Angela's life, and she cherished every moment spent with her children and grandchildren. Angela's love for her family was unwavering. She took great pride in supporting her children in their various activities, attending countless sports games and dance recitals with a beaming smile and endless encouragement. Her love for children extended beyond her own family, as she spent countless hours teaching kids sign language and signing with her signing choir. She had a special way of connecting with children, making each one feel loved and valued.

In her free time, Angela enjoyed baking, especially pies, and making peanut brittle for her loved ones. Her sweet tooth was legendary, as evidenced by her love for the way she made sweet tea that would "rot your teeth," as she would say with a laugh. Her laughter was contagious, and her presence brought joy to those around her.

Angela's faith was the cornerstone of her life and was evident in her actions and interactions with others. She was a faithful woman who never wavered in her beliefs, even in the face of adversity. Those who knew Angela were inspired by her unwavering commitment to her faith and her ability to find strength and comfort in her relationship with God. She was a long-time member of Palestine Church and Southside Baptist Church signing choir.

Angela had a unique gift for making everyone feel welcome and never met a stranger. Her genuine warmth and kindness were felt by all who crossed her path. Angela's love for life was obvious in her radiant smile and the way she always had her lipstick perfectly applied.

One of Angela's most enduring qualities was her ability to give the most heartfelt hugs. If you ever had a hug from Angela, you knew it was a genuine expression of her love and care for you. This simple act of affection was a testament to her nurturing spirit and her desire to make everyone feel loved and supported. Her legacy lives on in the hearts and memories of those she touched during her time on earth. We celebrate her life and the countless ways she made the world a better place for all who knew her.

To All Of The Families Of Angela Vaughn Brooks
Angela I remember you when you were just a baby. With those big beautiful blue eyes with pretty blond hair!Nancy and I would be babysitting you. I always tease Nancy when you needed your diaper changed I offer to do it.😂 I am sure she did it many of times😀But I loved babies and it is my memory of you being that little.
Also it was just a reminder how much I loved you. And how many years me and Nancy were the best of friends to this day! You are now in the arms of Jesus and I am very sure you dad and your mother were there to meet you with open arms. It’s away I hope that helps your sisters and your brother to get through this time. They are so dear to my family’s heart!❤️
Words are never easy to say to the family but to just say to also your children and grandchildren you will be with her again. I can only ask my God to wrapped his arms around all of you and to pray that you know he is their with each one of you. That you feel his love at this time. I have donated a tree in Angela’s memory and will be giving money to help where needed. Gary and the rest of my family send their love and prayers ❤️❤️🙏🎉

  2. Please know that I am so saddened to hear of this sweet lady’s passing, yet very relieved for her “homegoing,” where there is no longer suffering she’s had to endure. I’ve known her since we were very young, and in later years we enjoyed church camp together with our granddaughters. She was such a blessing with her easy smile, quick laugh, and generous heart, and always a beautiful example of “servant.” We are praying for peace, strength, and comfort as you go through this time.

  3. Angela was a Blessing to everyone she met! I am praying for all of you! Keep the Beautiful memories ! She is with Our Lord and Savior!!❤️ Sarah and Billy Harrison

  4. I am so sorry for your loss. Angela was such an amazing woman and can remember riding bikes up and down the road on brazos street growing up as a kid. She was always such a fun person to be around. Nancy I want to tell you that you are an amazing sister and did a great job taking care of Angela and bringing her to all of her appointments at the office and always doing whatever she wanted or getting whatever she wanted to eat and feeding her that ice cream she loved. Your love for Angela showed everyday that you and her were together. Angela knew how much you loved her. It will be difficult in the coming days, weeks and months but I just want you to always remember that you fought for her and her treatment and did the best for Angela. She is no longer suffering and is singing and celebrating with your parents and having a wonderful
Time praising her God. Love to all her family and prayers for all

  5. Angela was one of the kindest souls that I had the pleasure of knowing, and she always tried to see the best in everyone. Upon meeting her for the first time, I was immediately impressed by her gentle spirit. Although she’s no longer in pain and safe in the arms of our Savior, her family and friends will grieve her passing for some time. My prayers are for those left behind and I’m in hopes that her memory is honored by continuing to serve as she did.

  6. So we must say goodbye for now to someone who was a part of our family since her birth…we will never forget how much you and Nancy loved Bobbie and Don and the efforts you both made to see them and love on them both in their final days….we will see you again!

  14. I ran into Mrs. Brooks several months ago as I was walking into Walmart and she was exiting. I had been living out of state for a long time and hadn’t seen her in years. We exchanged a hug and briefly caught up on life/work and I can still remember her smiling and inviting me to join her at Palestine Church, saying “Come as you are” as she walked off. I had told her we had a church we had been attending and that we liked, but that I would bring my family one Sunday to meet her and visit. She was just as lovely as the picture you have posted of her and I cannot believe that we have lost her and that I procrastinated and never made good on that visit and that I didn’t get to praise the Lord and fellowship with the mother of my good friend Dustin, who had been such a kind and wonderful person throughout my childhood. Through my friendship with Dustin I have gotten to see what a great mom she is and I have many memories of times with Mrs. Brooks, but the best memories I can share are of her at our school sporting events. Dustin was undisputedly one of the fastest kids in school, and I was an accomplished runner as well. My parents (who are absolutely wonderful) couldn’t make it to most of my events, but Mrs. Brooks was always there, and the best thing to me was that she didn’t just cheer for Dustin, she loved, supported, and cheered for all of us! It always made me feel so great to see her smiling and to know that she cared and was there with us. I am so saddened by her loss and the Madison’s all send our deepest condolences to Dustin, Brittany, Mr. Brooks, and all of the family. We shall mourn with you and we shall celebrate with you as well, knowing your mother’s faith in Christ, that she is with Him now. I love y’all. -Matt Madison

  16. I’m so sorry to hear about the loss of Angela. I will always remember her at the boys’ sporting events. She always had a smile on her face. I wish your family peace and comfort during this difficult time.

  17. Angela was a friend for over 50 years and was very loved by my entire family. She never hesitated to be there for anyone in need or when they were celebrating a shining moment in their life. We shared so many great times, including our 50th birthdays. Our lives are forever blessed by having Angela in them, but what a void we all feel now. Things will never have quite the same joy or spontaneity as before, which Angela was well known for having. As young teens, we would go to her next-door neighbor, Bobbie’s house, and she would give us Mayonnaise to apply as suntan lotion. Am not sure what our reasoning was, but we sure had nice tans, especially since we climbed up on her rooftop and sunbathed for hours. While our hearts have an emptiness that won’t be filled, we rejoice in the fact that we will see Angela again. We had a code word (Yos) so I will say, so long, until we meet again, and Yos to Angela – always in our hearts and minds, my dear friend!

  18. I knew Angels from attending church with her at Palestine Church. Angela was a kind, gentle, and beautiful person inside and out and a smile that always make you smile. Praying for your family and friends and for comfort and peace in the coming days. She has left a void that can’t be filled. God Be with each of you.

  19. Sending prayers to the family and friends of Angels. I attended church with Angela for years at Palestine church. She was a very kind, loving, person, who was beautiful inside and out !! She had a beautiful, infectious smile and spirit . Prayers to each of you for peace and comfort in the days to come.🙏🙏
