February 17, 2001 ~ June 29, 2025

Betty Jean Thomas, of Palestine, Texas, passed away in a tragic accident on Sunday, the 29th day of June 2025 at the age of 24. She was born on the 17th day of February 2001 in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia to Laurie Steele Beyersdofer. Betty was a strong believer and is now at home with our Lord.

Betty was a woman of dedication, as evidenced by her academic pursuits. At the time of her passing, she was enrolled at Trinity Valley Community College, working tirelessly toward her associate in business finance. She was involved in Rock Bottom Ranch, where she loved to serve. Betty's presence was a gift; she was the unique spark that could brighten any room she entered.

Betty loved the beach, and she found peace in the waves and the warmth of the sun on her skin. It was her get away, a place where she could reflect and find peace. Her love for music was just as profound, with melodies and rhythms that resonated with her soul, often leading her to share her favorite tunes with friends and family. Her kindness was not just a trait but a way of life, as she approached each day with a heart full of compassion. Betty will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her mom Laurie Beyersdofer.

Left to cherish Betty's memory are her siblings, Felicia Beyersdofer, George Beyersdofer and wife Ivy, and Emmanuel Zuniga. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.

Funeral services to commemorate the life of Betty Thomas will be held at 10:00 AM on July 7, 2025, at Evangelistic Temple, located at 3011 N Loop 256, Palestine, Texas. The service will be officiated by Bro. Kevin Willmott.

A private family graveside service will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Waco, Texas.

Friends are invited to visit with the family one hour prior to the start of the service at the church.

  1. Betty was the sweetest young lady with a huge personality. I looked forward to hearing her speak and share her experiences. She had a way with words and always captivated me and others. She is already dearly missed. Her love for the Lord gives me peace and I have no doubt she is in the presence of our Lord and Savior! RIP BIG BETTY 🫶🏻

  2. Her hugs were healing her smile so sweet she had lived so much life in such a short time. Her Love for Jesus and her thirst for the word became her shield. We will miss that sweet Betty Jean smile and heart. Our time here on earth will seem longer without you sweet girl.

  3. To the family and friends—we are standing with you in prayer.
To our dear friends at Rock Bottom Ranch, our hearts are with you.

To know the testimony of RBR is to know the legacy of Betty Jean. A young life lost on earth, but a precious gain for heaven.

We understand how difficult these moments are to process, and our deepest hope is that Jesus would remain at the center. May His peace—the kind that surpasses all understanding—cover and comfort every heart affected.

  4. So Sorry for your loss Felicia ,Prayers for you and family 🙏❤️

  5. First off I want to give my condolences to George and Felicia I know what she meant to you guy’s… I felt that love and bond y’all have with one another. Other than that I really don’t even know where to begin when I talk about Big Betty. If you know then you know. If you don’t well your about to find out. We had fun times, mad times, angry times, where we didn’t even like each other but we still loved one another and we wouldn’t trade it for the world. We always turned to each other for advice sometimes we took it sometimes we didn’t. We had to find out on our own! She’s an AMAZING human being. And I’m SO LUCKY to have been apart of this thing called life with her and it’s been a HUGE Blessing getting to know her the real her. I’ll be missing you until we meet again. I’ll never replace you because your unreplaceable. You had a kind heart and kind spirit and wanted to help everyone but didn’t know how to help them. You always knew if there was a will then there was a way and you’d be sure to figure that sucker out. I miss snapping you daily and just hearing about the problems you have going on right now. Rather they be good or bad. RIP Babygirl I love you more than you know..

    From,
Your Sister and 1 of the many Bestfriends you have. Jessica Upton!!
