Carroll L. Jones
April 6, 1943 ~ March 24, 2026
Carroll L. Jones, of Palestine, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, the 24th day of March 2026, with his loving wife by his side. "C.L." as he was best known, was 82 years of age. He was born on the 6th day of April 1943 in Doddridge, Arkansas to parents Harvey Jones and Opal Greene Jones.
C.L. was a man of quiet strength and dry wit. A proud veteran, he enlisted in the Air Force following his graduation from high school in Brightstar, Texas, serving his country during the Vietnam War. This early chapter of service preceded a long and dedicated career with Hunt Oil. Known for his mechanical skill and reliability, he worked in rig maintenance and eventually served as a Shop Foreman in Yemen, retiring after years of dedicated service.
Beyond his professional life, C.L. was a man of many passions. He was happiest when working outdoors or exploring the wilderness, frequently traveling to Colorado and Alaska for hunting trips. At home, he could often be found tinkering with old cars, holding a special affection for his Model T. An avid reader of western books and viewer of Westerns, he also possessed a deep knowledge of World War II history. Above all, C.L. was a devoted husband who deeply loved his wife.
He is preceded in death by his parents Harvey and Opal Jones; sister, Joann Williamson; and his brothers, Albert Jones and Jerry Jones.
C.L. leaves behind his wife of 54 years, Judith Doreen Anderson Jones; sister-in-law, Alyce Malladay and husband Bob; brothers-in-law, David Anderson and wife Mary and Donald Anderson and wife Patty. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Becky, Christina, Keith, David, Rebecca, Chelsea, Don Jr., Derrick, Chaz, Josh, Sara, April, and David. C.L.'s home was always a sanctuary for animals, in addition he leaves behind his beloved dogs, Pepper and Shiloh, and his many cats, including his special cat caregiver, Rocky Marie. C.L. was fiercely loved and his steady presence and subtle humor will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A service is to be conducted at two o'clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the 11th day of April 2026 in the Rhone Memorial Chapel. Friends are invited to visit with the family one hour prior to the start of the service.

Yes, he was a very quiet man a very observant man, a very loving and respected man. I remember going over to Mrs D’s house to help her clean before Thanksgiving and may I add Thanksgiving was like three or four days away lol I went anyways and helped her. We had a blast and Mr. CL came in said when we gonna have that beer. I said yes, sir right now it would be good so we said we drank a beer. He told me about his time in the military and out of the military, you were a grandfather figure and my eyes and Mrs D you have always been there like a mom for me. Mr. CL I salute you gone, but never forgotten. I love you!!!
Yo Cl rest your weary soul and body in the bosom of our lord. May there be no more pain and suffering and may you work for the lord to keep the lights on in God kingdom now. Some day we shall meet again and talk about days long ago. May you join your family that has passed before you and rejoice in your homecoming in Gods kingdom.
As Carroll’s niece, I remember when I was about 4 or 5 years old: he sat me on his lap and explained in a very basic way about how “the sun rises in the east and sets in the west.” It was a key marker for my life knowing basic directions & grew into a great love for nature & the outdoors in my adulthood. Uncle Carroll had a very strong presence and would present information and understanding with such gentleness and true concern for others.
I love him and always will. Thank you, Uncle Carroll.
