Christine Vernelia Shofner (Lane)

Christine Vernelia Shofner, of Grapeland, Texas, a beloved mother and grandmother passed away peacefully on Tuesday, the 20^th day of October 2026, at the age of 83. Mrs. Shofner was born in Silsbee, Texas on the 19^th day of May 1943 to parents Carl Lane and Mary Maihlos.

Mrs. Shofner was a woman of deep faith who lived her life with devotion and purpose. In her younger years, she taught Sunday school, sharing her love of God and helping others grow in their faith. Her faith was an important part of who she was and guided her throughout her life.

Above all else, Mrs. Shofner loved her family. They were her greatest treasure, and she held them close to her heart. Her love, faith, and dedication to those she cherished will be remembered always.

Mrs. Shofner is preceded in death by her husband Jack Lamar Shofner; parents, Carl and Mary Lane; daughter, Rhonda Russell; son, Delbert Shofner; sister, Carlene Johnson; and brother, Raymond Lane.

She leaves behind lasting memories with her daughter, Mary Jordan and husband Ronnie; sons, James Carl Davis and wife Susan, Larry Wayne Shofner and wife Jo Ellen, Jimmy Lee Shofner and wife Sarah; sister, Dorothy Franks and husband Earl; and brother, Odis Lane and wife Kathy. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends, who will miss her dearly.

Graveside services to celebrate Christine’s life are to be conducted at three o’clock in the afternoon on Thursday, the 22^nd day of October 2026 at Evergreen Cemetery in Percilla, Texas with Ronnie Jordan officiating the service.
