Christopher Allen Jones
August 31, 1975 ~ April 7, 2023
Christopher Allen Jones, age 47, known to his friends and family as Chris or Bubba, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on the 7th day of April 2023. Born on the 31st of August 1975, in Jacksonville, Texas, Chris was a beloved son, brother, grandson and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Chris is preceded in death by his grandparents Charles and Patsy Jackson, and Bernard Clark and Althea Morel Jones.
Left to cherish Chris's memory are his parents Larry and Sherrie Jones of Longview, Texas; sister, Lacey Jones of Santa Cruz, California, and other beloved family members and friends.
Chris dedicated 16 years of his life to serving his community as a jailer for the Anderson County Sheriff's Department. His unwavering commitment to his work was a testament to his strong sense of duty and integrity. Chris was highly respected by his colleagues and was known for his ability to bring humor and light to even the most challenging situations.
Outside of work, Chris was a man of many interests, including music, cooking, and playing video games. His passion for music was evident in the vast collection of songs he amassed over the years. Chris was often found humming a tune or tapping his feet to the rhythm of a favorite song. His culinary skills were a source of joy for his friends and family, as he was always eager to share his latest creations with those he loved.
A true friend to all, Chris was known for his friendly, generous, and funny nature. He had a remarkable ability to make people feel at ease, and his infectious laughter was a balm to those around him. In the words of Lou Reed "When you think the night has seen your mind, that inside you're twisted and unkind, let me stand to show that you are blind, please put down your hands, cause I see you, I'll be your mirror, reflect what you are." Chris certainly left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew him.
As we remember Chris, we celebrate his life and the many ways he touched the lives of those around him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and colleagues.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to BARC, The Humane Society, (335 Armory Road, Palestine, Texas) www.barctx.org in memory of Chris.
The family will host a memorial service to honor Chris's life at two o'clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the 10th day of June 2023 at Friendship Baptist Church in Blackfoot, Texas.
Rest in peace, Chris. Your love, laughter, and kindness will forever be cherished by those who were fortunate enough to know you.

Dear Sherrie, Larry, and Lacey,
We are so sorry for your loss. Chris was always so friendly and nice to us on the rare occasions that we saw him. I will never forget being in Nan Travis Hospital at the same time when Julie and Chris were born two days apart. I always felt a special connection to Chris, since he was born on my birthday. Praying that God will wrap His loving arms around you.

Lifting all of you up to Jesus today and the days ahead. Chris was a joy to have as an 8th grade student and I am thankful I saw him, Sherrie and Larry about a year ago at Little Mexico. There are things we don’t understand this side of heaven but we have a loving Father that tells us He will never leave us and He is our Comforter. I love y’all.

Larry and Sherry,
I cannot imagine your grief at the loss of Chris. Though I never met your son he sounds like a gentleman I would have enjoyed being around. Hold each other close and allow yourselves to grieve. I hope one day the hole in your heart heals, though I know that time will be far from today. My sincere condolences. ((((Hugs))))

Sherry and Larry, I am so sorry for your loss. I remember Chris and Jerrett playing on the same soccer team and later when Stephanie was house sitting for us after my parents passed and we would see Chris there. He was always in a good mood and funny to be around. He visited our home many times and we were always glad to see him. We haven’t seen much of him lately and that is a pity, he will be missed. May God grant you and your family His peace.
We remember Chris from our Palestine days. He was a friend of my daughters and was often at our house. Prayers for his family.
My heart is broken, Chris is gone. He was the best friend anyone could ever have. A bright ray of sun in a dreary, gray world. He was my shoulder to cry on, the joke I needed to hear when I was upset, always go with the flow, and a constant in my ever changing life. I can’t think of any tough times in my life that Chris wasn’t there for, weddings, funerals, the birth of our children, I always knew he would be there for Wes and I. The world has lost such a rare person and I will never see my brother again, he’s gone to be with Sandra and his Nan. My heart is broken.
I am so sorry to hear about Chris. He was such a sweetheart…always smiling. It was a joy to teach him. May God be with each of you.

I have fond memories from our days hanging out at Country Coffee House as teenagers, and later in Denton. He was always kind to me. I will miss him.
Mr Jones, you made an indelible impression on me in the sense of being dedicated to your duties yet you had the ability to be fair to those left in your charge. It was a pleasure to have met you and I am eternally grateful for all the times we encountered each other. You will surely be missed by all of your colleagues and a great number of those you supervised in your chosen profession. The only bright side to this is that the Lord now has one of the best folks imaginable in His presence for eternity. R.I.P, young man.
Chris spend many an hour at my house when he and my son, Tony Greene, were close friends growing up. He was one of the sweetest guys you would ever meet. I have missed him over the years after Tony moved, but managed to see his sometimes out and about. I will always remember how much fun the guys had getting together and playing music in my living room.

I first met Chris back in 1996 one of the times I came out to visit my family in Texas, where they had moved in 1994. Several years later when I moved to Texas myself, I was pleased to once again make his acquaintance. He has always been a thoughtful and generous friend. I am truly a better person for having known him. He has helped my family through some hard times and I will forever be indebted to him. My heart goes out to those who loved him most, his friends, and his family. I pray that your hearts find comfort and joy in remembering the best in him and his memory.

So sorry for your loss. Chris was a great friend to all my children. He was a great friend to Sandra and she always called him “My Chris”. He also had a special place in my heart because it may be years, but when I saw him again he was always the same jolly person I remember from years ago, when I first met him. He was an especially great friend to Samantha and Wes. It was rare to go visit them that Chris was not there. Always so jolly and funny. Never came without a special treat to eat when he came to visit. Chris you will be deeply missed. I know you are there with Sandra and all your loved ones gone on before you. RIP my friend. I am so sorry for your loss. Praying for all family and friends. I met Chris while working at ACSO I work in dispatch and he was a jailer. I really enjoyed the talks we had when he would come to the window or I would see him at shifts end. He was always so nice. He will be missed.
Chris was such a dear friend for many many years, going back to 1992. Please let us all here know when the celebration of life service will be.
I can not remember when or where I met Chris, but I do know that for the brief time I knew him, we were best friends. We were both in our early teens years. We spent the summers skate boarding, listening to music, jumping on his trampoline, listening to music, playing Nintendo and .. listening to music. I never met someone so much into music as Chris was. Our love for the Cure was on such a level, we would go to our secret hide-out overlooking a portion of Palestine, at 10:15.. on a Saturday night, and play the song “10:15 on a Saturday Night” and dance around with out a care. After taking the eagerly awaited trips to Tyler, TX to visit Musicland , he would rush over to my house and throw a bundle of tapes on the floor in excitement “this is the Smiths, this is Ministry, this is Public Image Limitedâ€. Our friends, Bayne, Jason, Tony all much older and all musically wiser furthered our fever pitch desire to have more tunes.
We strolled the train tracks on boring days, delivered flyers for the local Domino’s pizza on other days to earn a few bucks. I don’t remember us doing much in middle school, but that was probably par for the course during that time. We had a few trips to Six Flags with our friend Steve and had a blast! Got into some fights along side his cousin Tommy. We ate all the free bread sticks at Marzio’s!
I remember his love for his Grandmother who lived right up the road from his house at the time. We would visit her and she always provided some parched skater dudes, some cold drinks. When I left and moved to Hawaii, we exchanged a few mixed tapes, but then lost contact.
You will always be in my heart Chris, I won’t forget our time together.
“My head falls back and the walls crash down
And the sky and the impossible explode
Held for one moment I remember a song
An impression of sound
And then everything is gone forever
A strange day “
– A Strange Day (The Cure)
I first met Chris when my nephew brought him to a family dinner. I remember we were a little miffed by the surprise. In less than 2 minutes, we were ALL crazy about Chris. He spoke to us as though we were old friends. His fun sense of humor greatly added to the experience. I had the pleasure of seeing and visiting with Chris on several occasions. Chris was a very good friend to my nephew for many years. We will always keep him close with very sweet memories of this very sweet man. RIP, dear Chris.
My heart breaks for your loss. Prayers for your family.
