Craig Schitoskey
October 16, 1961 ~ May 17, 2023
On Wednesday, the 17th day of May 2023, Fred Craig Schitoskey, of Palestine, Texas, drew his last breath surrounded by his devoted family. He was 61 years of age when his journey on this earth came to an end, and he is now in the presence of our loving Lord and Savior. Craig was born in Athens, Texas on the 16th day of October 1961, to parents Luther Fred Schitoskey and Glenda Rose Massey Schitoskey.
Craig was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. His family was always near and dear to his heart, and he always made them number one in his life. He was a devoted member of Friendship Baptist Church where he worshipped the Lord with his church family.
Craig worked as a foreman in the coal mines and retired as a supervisor after many years of dedicated service. He had a passion for ranching and working cattle. Most memories of Craig, it seems, consist of him in the hayfield. He loved to drive his tractors and bulldozers working on the family land. To say he was a hard worker would be an understatement. When he wasn't working, Craig enjoyed camping and making memories with his family.
Craig had an outgoing personality that made others feel comfortable around him in any situation. He was always considerate of others needs and had a hard time telling people "No". He loved to help anyone and was always generous with his time. Craig was dearly loved by his family and friends and his untimely passing will be felt every day until the day we join him in Heaven.
He is preceded in death by his parents Luther and Glenda Schitoskey, and his sister, Laurie Schitoskey.
Craig leaves behind his loving wife of 39 years, Kim Schitoskey; daughters, Jennifer Moore and husband Austin, and Brooke Barnett and husband Jarrett, all of Palestine, Texas; sister, Lisa Schitoskey of Chandler, Texas; and his grandsons, whom he loved dearly, Levi, Jaxson, A.J., Holton, Harlon, and his granddaughter on-the-way, Laurel. Also left to cherish the memories of Craig are his other family members and numerous friends.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation from six o'clock until eight o'clock in the evening on Sunday, the 21st day of May 2023, at Rhone Funeral Home.
Graveside services to celebrate Craig Schitoskey's life are to be conducted at two o'clock in the afternoon on Monday, the 22nd day of May 2023, at Rock Church Cemetery in Blackfoot. Bro. Duane Neel will be officiating the service and Scott Coleman will perform a solo.
Those honored to serve as honorary pallbearers are Justin Huddleston, Randy Nelson, Tommy Nelson, T.J. Nelson, Bobby Huddleston, and David Langston.
In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions in Craig Schitoskey's memory can be directed towards Rock Church Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 106, Montalba, Texas 75853.

He was the kindest, most gentle soul. He worked all around the outside of the church and pitched in for VBS. Wyley especially enjoyed his drop by visits for conversations. He was prayed over every day by us, and we too will miss him. We love his family too.
I remember going to school with Craig at Stafford Springs and then moving to Cayuga to finish out our school days. He was always friendly and kind.
I didn’t have the privilege of being around Craig much, but I definitely have a high opinion of him. He raised two fine girls. I am so grateful to Brooke’s family for making my Jarrett and his 2 boys family. Thank you all so much. This is a loss that we all share in.
Precious Craig. A Christian Man that was such a Wonderful Example to Me and Others.
Praying for peace, comfort and understanding.
Love to all the Schitoskey family.

Craig Schitosky always wore a smile and was a kind soul. My family and his family have been lifelong friends. I know Craig is with his Lord Jesus. Thankful to have known him. Praying for y’all all, you too Lisa, his sister.
To have known Craig was to know a true friend. I had the privilege of attending high school with him where we became good friends. I will never forget his smile his jokes, and his little pranks. One day after school we were hanging out at Henry’s store, and talking about grades and assignments and out of the blue He says, “Why don’t you just quit school, then I could be Valedictorian!” My answer of course was, “I don’t think so”! We were Valedictorian and Salutatorian. I am very privileged to have had such a great friend and I am so thankful that one day we shall meet again! So fly high my friend.
Mrs. Kim it was an honor to be able to play football and baseball with your husband Craig. I learned a lot from him. He was Cayuga’s “Charlie Hustle”. He made me a better player. He was the consumate Teammate and a true and caring friend. A Cayuga Great.
I am so very sorry for your loss. I, too, was a classmate of Craigs. The last time I saw him was graduation night. There were a few people that I always wondered about after high school…what they were doing with their lives, where they worked, if they were married with children. Craig was one of those people. I knew from high school that he would succeed in whatever he strived to achieve. He was a good person and a good friend. I did have the pleasure of meeting one of his daughters a while back and asked her about her dad. She was still a Schitoskey at the time so I felt she had to be related. I never saw him again until I saw this post my sister sent me. Now I don’t have to wonder anymore. Although I never saw him again, I often thought of him and Donald wasn’t far behind him. Sleep well my friend and classmate. You will forever be missed. Class of 1980…Forever
