Darrell Mitchell, age 64, of Palestine, passed away into the loving arms of Jesus on Monday, the 13th day of September 2021. He was born the oldest of three children to parents Haskell Mitchell and Billie Jo Davis Mitchell, in Palestine, Texas, on the 8th day of November 1956.

He attended Westwood High School, where he played football and graduated in 1975. Devoting his life to his family, he always made sure they were loved and cared for. He loved his wife, and the life they created together raising their three sons. Darrell understood the value of hard work and discipline. He began working for Palestine Contractors at the age of sixteen and enjoyed a long career in the oilfield. He worked his way up into management and supervisory positions, serving as President of ASC Production Services at the time of his death.

Mr. Mitchell leaves behind his wife of 43 years, Tammy; sons, Cody Mitchell, Eric Mitchell, and Clay Mitchell and wife Emily; sisters, Michele Mitchell-Mettlen of Indiana, and Melissa Crutcher and husband David of Palestine; mother-in-law, Dorothy Ross of Palestine. He is also survived by his grandson, Blake Anthony Mitchell, whom he adored. Many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends also mourn his passing. He is preceded in death by his parents, Haskell and Billie Mitchell.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from six o'clock until eight o'clock in the evening, on Thursday, the 23rd day of September 2021 at Rhone Funeral Home.

A Celebration of Life service to honor Darrell Mitchell is to be conducted at ten o'clock in the morning on Friday, the 24th day of September 2021 at Southside Baptist Church in Palestine with Ben Rhone officiating. Interment will follow in Land of Memory Cemetery.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Cody Mitchell, Clay Mitchell, David Crutcher, Kasey Crutcher, James Wright, and Billy Johnson. Honorary pallbearers are Eric Mitchell and Niel Wright.

In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions can be directed toward a charity of your choosing.

Funeral services for Darrell Mitchell are in care of Rhone Funeral Home, 3900 S. State Highway 19, Palestine, Texas.

  7. I worked with Darrell a few years at Palestine Contractors in the early 90s. He was a pleasure to work with. He was kind and always a smile on his face. One of the nicest men I have ever worked with. Prayers for his wife and family for the loss of their loved one. May God bless
