David Wayne Scroggs

David Wayne Scroggs, of Palestine, Texas was welcomed into the arms of his Savior on July 16, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was born in Bossier City, Louisiana, on October 9, 1968, to Johnnie Britton Scroggs and Elizabeth Ann Everett Scroggs.
David was a devoted husband, father, PawPaw, brother, uncle, and friend whose greatest joy in life was his family. He often said that his proudest accomplishments were his children and grandchildren, and nothing brought him more happiness than spending time with them and watching them grow.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, and cheering on his beloved Texas Longhorns. Whether watching a game with family or talking football with friends, he was a devoted Longhorn fan (HOOK'EM). Throughout his career as an OTR truck driver he was honored with achievement awards for his strong work ethic and dedication. Above all, he enjoyed traveling with his wife and dogs.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie and Elizabeth Scroggs; his mother-in-law, Mary York; and his beloved grandchild, Otto Olivares.
He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Buffie Scroggs; his beloved children, Ashley Hanson, Kayla Scroggs, Krysti Olivares and husband Marco, Ryan Trezise and wife Heather, and Katie Trezise; his grandchildren, Noah, Bentley, Zyah, Daician, Ezra, Luka, and Selma; sisters, Brenda Skiff and husband Joe, Nelda Kirk and husband Ricky; father-in-law, Henry York; sisters-in-law, Jennifer Acker and husband Jason, Britney York and partner Hailey. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many dear friends whose lives were forever touched by his love, kindness, and unwavering support.
A Memorial will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at Rhone Funeral Home in the Reflection Room with Bro. Gary York officiating the service.

We are so sorry for the loss of David but knowing he is loving his new home gives us comfort. David was a wonderful man and so much fun to spend time with. You all are in our thoughts and prayers and we pray you will know that the Lord is with you and brings true peace in this time. We love you guys! The Scroggs family is getting larger in heaven and I know they are having a ball together!!
