Surrounded by his loving family, Edward L. "Eddie" Jimenez, age 67, of Palestine, Texas, was called to his eternal home in Heaven on Monday, the 4th day of April 2022. "Eddie" or "E", as he was affectionately known was born in Pasadena, Texas on the 13th day of May 1954 to parents Nicanor Jimenez and Felicitas Linan Jimenez.

Eddie was known by many throughout the community. He truly loved people, had a big heart, and a creative spirit. Eddie understood the purpose of life. In 1986 he graduated with an associate degree from Christ For The Nations Institute. He was an ordained minister who influenced many lives by leading others to Christ. He loved the Lord and shared the gospel with others, including the years he served as a youth minister. He was always protective of his family and made sure they were cared for and knew he loved them dearly. His absence will always be felt but his legacy will live on in the lives of those who cherished him.

He is preceded in death by his parents Nicanor and Felicitas Jimenez, sister Gloria Chavez, and brother Mike Jimenez.

Eddie will live on in the hearts of his wife of 42 years, Susie Jimenez; children, Christina Easter and husband Kenny, Sarah Taylor and husband Dan, and Nicholas Jimenez; father-in-law, Brice McDonald; mother-in-law, Betty Douthit and Joe Watlington; sisters, Josie Carroll and husband Chris, Fay Garrett and husband Ronnie; brother, Nick Jimenez; sister-in-law, Tammy Kent and husband John; brothers-in-law, Daron McDonald and Craig McDonald; grandchildren, Brent Jimenez, Mason Jimenez, Emily Jimenez, Langston Taylor, Sheppard Taylor, Dani Taylor, Madison Graves, Kassidy Thornton, Peyton Graves; and three great-grandchildren. What a character who always had a smile on his face and made everyone laugh and feel welcome. He shared his faith freely and impacted the community with his love for others. We lost a good one that will be sorely missed. The struggle is over for Mr. Eddie and he is in that perfect, prepared place that God promised. Love and prayers to the entire Jimenez family.

  3. The first time I really met E was at Tammy and Johns wedding in Austin. My favorite story about Eddie was when he met John the first time and he was wearing fake bubba teeth, because John had heard all about the folks in East Texas. When I remember that it just makes me laugh. My older sister, Joanie, who was in Eddies class at WHS, said, I have wonderful memories of Eddie from junior high and high school. He was always so nice to me. The Broyles girls send their deepest condolences to the McDonalds and Jimenezs. We will be praying for you and honoring a life really well-lived.

  4. Susie and Betty, my prayers are lifted for you and yours…may you be comforted with God’s love…

  7. Praying for Susie and family in the loss of one of the sweetest and funniest persons ever. Eddie was a delight to be around and I appreciated so much his Christian witness to anyone. Palestine has lost a jewel but heaven has gained it. May you experience God’s peace and comfort now and in the coming months.
