James E. Gholson Jr., age 59, of Palestine, passed away on Wednesday, the 31st of May, 2017, at Palestine Regional Medical Center. James was born on the 2nd of March, 1958 in Houston, Texas to James E. Gholson and Susie Lilley. He was an avid hunter who loved camping and all that Mother Nature had to offer. James was a man who loved to help people. He was a member of Faith Community Church in Palestine. He worked in the maintenance department of Wal-Mart for nearly twenty years. He will be missed by all who knew him.

James is preceded in death by his parents, James Gholson Sr. and Susie Lounell Lilley Gholson.

James Gholson Jr. is survived by his wife of thirty seven years, Linda Wilson Gholson; daughter, Amanda Dawn Bratz and husband David of Palestine; sons, James Allen Gholson, Joseph Adam Gholson, and Jacob Alexander Gholson all of Palestine; sister, Ritha Henry and husband Billy Norman of Palestine; mother-in-law, Jane Wilson; hunting buddies, Chester Meeks, Claude Meeks and David Brock. James also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service for James E. Gholson Jr. will be held on Saturday, the 24th of June, 2017 at Faith Community Church in Palestine beginning at two o'clock in the afternoon with David Watts and Jimmy Reed officiating.

Cremation services are in care of Rhone Funeral Home, 3900 S. State Hwy 19, Palestine, Texas.

  8. James was such a kind, wonderful man! I was blessed to have worked with him for 20 years at the Wal-Mart warehouse. He always had a smile and kind words for everyone. I am truly going to miss him. Love and prayers to all.
