Jessie Marie Kraus
January 22, 1919 ~ January 24, 2024
Jessie Marie Seagler Kraus, of Palestine, Texas, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, the 24th day of January 2024, just two days after celebrating her 105th birthday. She was born on the 22nd day of January 1919, in Corsicana, Texas, to parents Lawrence George Seagler and Lena Mae Atkinson Seagler. Her life was a testament to the power of positivity and faith, leaving behind a legacy of joy and unwavering trust in the Lord.
Born into a world vastly different from the one she left, Mrs. Kraus embraced change with grace and optimism. She dedicated many years of her life to her role as a secretary in several different fields, a position from which she retired in 2001. Her professional life was marked by the same warmth and kindness that she carried into her personal endeavors.
A long-time member of the Crockett Road Church of Christ, Mrs. Kraus's faith was the cornerstone of her existence. Her love for the Lord was evident in her every action and word, inspiring those around her to embrace life with the same spirited devotion.
Those who knew Mrs. Kraus will remember her for her loving nature and the optimistic glow that seemed to radiate from her. She had the best outlook on life, facing each day with a smile that could light up a room. Her spirit was infectious, and she had a unique ability to uplift everyone she encountered.
As we bid farewell to Jessie Kraus, we celebrate a life lived to the fullest. Her memory will continue to be a beacon of love and hope to all who were blessed to know her. Mrs. Kraus's journey on earth may have ended, but the impact of her loving, optimistic, and spirited personality will endure forever in the hearts of those she touched.
Mrs. Kraus is preceded in death by her parents, husband of 34 years Bill Kraus, four brothers, and one sister.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews, Louise Shaw, and Kay Phillips and husband Don; cousins' group, Toni Warren, Renee Whitley, Janet Price, and Paula Trigg; as well as her "adopted family" she loved so much, including her close, long-time friends, and caregivers, Carol Worley, Jane Susdorf, Marcy Haas, and Pat Conaway (Prissy), as well as many dearly beloved friends, just too many to mention.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Jessie Kraus are to be conducted at half-past two o'clock in the afternoon on Sunday, the 28th day of January 2024 at Crockett Road Church of Christ. Dan Manuel will be officiating the service. Interment will follow in Palestine City Cemetery.
A visitation will be held one hour prior to the start of the service at Crockett Road Church of Christ.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Gary Warren, Mike Whitley, Dwight Franklin, Ben Rhone, Marty Nash, and Steve Camp.

She was such a delightful lady I cherished her and had the privilege to know her and take care of her she will be missed
Jesse was a delight to be around..She was my Mom ‘s best Friend and sidekick!!What one could not think of the other could.. I miss them both so much . Rest in peace, Miss Jesse !!!
I had the privilege to be a neighbor and friend to this beautiful upbeat lady that was so positive and lovely to visit with. My favorite memory is bringing my two young children I was adopting at the time ages 3 and 5 to see her. She sat in her recliner and put both on her lap and reclined and used the chair like a carnival ride with the kids on her lap, she popped the chair back and forth several times. The pure joy on her face as they giggled was priceless. Jessie – I know is dancing at the feet of Jesus tonight.
Aunt Jesse was the definition of a good southern (Texas) woman! I never saw her without her Rosey lipstick and a big smile!
She was an amazing cook and always kept extra copies of recipes so anytime someone complimented her on a dish she had a copy of the recipe to hand out.
I asked her to teach me to crochet and she of course said “YES!†I was living in Dallas at the time, and I went to spend a weekend with her and when she realized I was left-handed she taught herself how to crochet left-handed so she could teach me. Another thing about her was she was a Dallas Cowboys superfan and always kept up on players.
She was always so proud to tell the story about her brother Tex, bringing her out to Colorado and putting her through secretary school. She loved her family so much.
She was so wise about so many things she was always able to solve any kind of problem. I know she touched countless lives, and I will always have a special place in my heart forever.
My grandmother, Othelia Main, and Jessie were the best of friends. They spent endless hours on the phone, laughing like little schoolgirls. They last spoke about a month ago and it was always amazing how Jessie could make Mamaw laugh, even at her age of 97. Their enduring friendship was a beautiful sight indeed.
I’ll always remember Jessie as a beautiful, witty, funny and incredibly loving woman. When I was a child she told me, “don’t ever lie…that way you don’t have to remember anythingâ€. I have lived by her words and am so blessed to have known her. Rest in peace, Jessie, you were truly one of a kind.
In 2008 when I lost my Mom and Jessie lost her close neighbor & friend, her and I grieved together. We grew close and over the next 16 years, she became my ‘other Mother’. She was proud to belong to her ‘adopted family’ and my children and I were blessed to have her. She was wise beyond words with an infectious smile, and such a happy, positive person all of her life. I loved her so..and am now lost without her, and will be for a very long time. She loved cokes, chocolate ice cream and Paula Meador’s dumplings. My most cherished memory will always be of us watching our Dallas Cowboys games together. Win or lose, she was a die hard fan. My family spent many holidays/special occasions with her. She was a delight to be around, to listen to, to talk with, and simply to know. This little lady will be deeply missed, never forgotten, and forever loved & remembered. I know She is happy now in her new Heavenly Home with her Bill, and all her many friends and family. May you forever Rest in Peace, my precious little ‘Jess’… sadly, my life will never be the same without you. Always will be, your ‘Prissy’

Jessie was one of the sweetest ladies I have ever known, always with a smile and pleasant conversation. Our loss is heaven’s gain.
