Jot "Eddie" Harris Jr.

Jot E. Harris, Jr., age 76, of Palestine, Texas, lovingly known to family and friends as Eddie passed away at his home on Tuesday, the 1st day of September 2026. He was born in Palestine, Texas on the 12th day of August 1950 to his late parents Jot E. Harris and Audrey Poole Harris.

Eddie was a proud American who served his country honorably in the United States Navy during Vietnam. His dedication to his country was a testament to the strength, courage, and character he carried throughout his life.

Eddie was a hardworking man who spent 34 years as a truck driver. He took pride in his work and in providing for those he loved. He was also the kind of man who would help anyone he could, never hesitating to lend a hand to someone in need. His kindness was genuine, and he treated everyone with respect and compassion.

Eddie found great joy in the simple things. He loved nature and especially enjoyed sitting on the porch, watching the deer and taking in the peace and beauty around him. He had a deep love for Harley-Davidson motorcycles and enjoyed rebuilding classic cars.

Eddie loved the Lord. His faith was an important part of his life, and he tried to live by the values of kindness, generosity, and love. He was a good and gentle man who made people feel welcome and treated everyone he met with warmth and respect.

Eddie is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Denise Harris; his son, Kasey Harris and wife Monica; stepson, Joshua Newman; stepdaughter, Michele Wright; sister, Diane Smith and husband Butch; brother, Jeff Harris and Susan; and his beloved grandchildren, Beth, Alicia, Braxton, Nathan, Patrick, and Gracelynn.

Eddie will be remembered for his kind heart, his willingness to help others, his love of family, his love of the outdoors, his passion for motorcycles and classic cars, and most importantly, his love for the Lord.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from three o’clock until five o’clock in the afternoon, on Saturday, the 10th day of October 2026 in the Rhone Memorial Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Eddie’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
