With a bachelor's degree from Sam Houston State University, she possessed not only the knowledge but also the heart to make a lasting impact on her students. Her classroom was a sanctuary of creativity, encouragement, and learning, reflecting her own loving and friendly nature until her retirement.

Beyond her professional achievements, Mrs. Hudson had a passion for arts and crafts, which allowed her to express her creative side. Her artwork and projects were not just hobbies but extensions of her vibrant personality. She found joy in the simple pleasure of being outside, reveling in the beauty of nature, which often provided inspiration for her creative pursuits.

Her loving and friendly demeanor made her a cherished friend, adoring member of her church family at Grapeland First Baptist Church, colleague, and mentor. She was the personification of creativity, always finding unique ways to bring joy and beauty into the world.

Mrs. Hudson's legacy will live on in the hearts of those she touched with her kindness and in the minds of the countless students she inspired throughout her admirable career. Guestbook

  1. I am so sorry to see this! Karen was a dear friend, I am sorry I lost touch with. Prayers for peace and comfort to all. Thoughts and prayers to Tom, Melissa and Carrie!

  2. Prayers to the family of Mrs Hudson, such a sweet lady. One of the best teachers ever!!

  3. Mrs. Hudson was my 7th grade teacher, in 2012-13. I remember her being the first teacher to write me up! BUT, her tough love showed me that she expected me to be my best, and when I focused she showed immense love and support in guiding me forward. She was not your average teacher, she believed in the structure of a young persons life, and had the perfect balance in doing so. Please rest, Mrs. Hudson. I love you.

  4. I am so saddened to hear of her passing. She was an amazing lady that I got the honor of knowing both in and out of school. Rest in peace Mrs. Hudson.

  5. I’m so sorry to hear of Karen’s passing. How good to know she is no longer suffering and in the arms of her loving Savior. Karen and I were the only Mayfield girls among a passel of 12 boy cousins. How wonderful to know the legacy she left with her students and loved ones.

  6. Sending my condolences to the family. One of the best Math teachers to ever do it. Rest easy Mrs. Hudson!

  7. “I Can Only Imagine” that Karen is still giving instructions on math lessons or on craft lessons. She was an excellent teacher who cared for the future of all her students!

  8. Leighanne, a former student says:

Mrs. Hudson was an amazing teacher and taught me algebra. She had a tremendous impact – she is the reason I use algebra in my daily life, instilled my love for math, and I have tried to pass that love and knowledge on to my kids. Mrs. Hudson was a G.O.A.T. math teacher and I am honored to have taken her classes ❤️❤️❤️

  9. Our family sends our condolences and love to Karen’s family. God’s light shines through Karen. She and I worked with the youth at Crockett First Baptist Church when our girls were young. One summer, we were in the church van with the youth and we drove through a rainbow. The colors passed through the van. It was such a wonderful experience and we talked about it being “God’s promise.” Karen’s loving spirit will be her legacy and will live on through others.

  10. My prayers and condolences for Karen’s family and friends.

  11. Karen was a sweet friend with a sweet smile. She was one of the most intelligent educators I had the privilege of being friends and co- workers with. She fought hard on her cancer journey and always tried to find ways to keep going with the Lord’s help and strength. I’ll miss her smile, caring spirit, love for her friends and family, and the fun we all had doing arts and crafts projects together. She was a patient teacher with us at paint parties and she never had a craft project that she couldn’t perfect in her own way. Love and peace sweet friend. Much love and prayers to your family

  12. Karen and I were pregnant with girls at the same time. We enjoyed discussing. I remember Karen was so good at crafts and made us the most precious ornaments for our baby Samuel that went to be with the Lord. Such a beautiful and thoughtful gift. She showed all how to live for Jesus with such a difficult disease. She will be greatly missed.

  13. Karen & I were neighbors. I was a little younger & I looked up to her. We babysat the same neighborhood kids & rode the bus together. We worked at the neighborhood pool together. I’m sorry we lost contact.
