Linda Walston

Linda Johnson Walston, age 76, of Palestine, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, the 15th day of September 2026. She was born on the 29th day of December 1949, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, to Lionel J. Johnson and Nancy Companion Johnson. From an early age and throughout her life, Linda had a heart full of love and a smile that could brighten a room.

Family was the center of Linda's world. Her life revolved around the people she loved most—her siblings, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her great-great-grandchild. She treasured every generation of her family and took great joy in watching them grow. Her love for her family was unconditional, and she was happiest when surrounded by those she held dear.

Linda had a big heart and a welcoming spirit. She never met a stranger and had a way of making people feel comfortable and cared for. Her beautiful smile, kind heart, and loving personality left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

In her younger years, Linda enjoyed fishing and making memories outdoors. But above all, it was the time spent with family that meant the most to her. She loved deeply, gave freely, and made her family and friends feel loved simply by being herself.

Linda is preceded in death by her husband, JQ Walston; parents, Lionel and Nancy Johnson; sister, Christie Johnson; brother and sister-in-law, Lionel and Carol Johnson, Jr.; brother-in-law, Mike Taylor; and grandchild, Joshua Rutledge.

She leaves behind a legacy of love that will never be forgotten with her daughters, Denice Rutledge and husband Steven, Donna Blythe and husband John; sisters, Rosemary Taylor, Sandra Thompson and husband Junior; brother, Don Johnson and wife Lucinda; sister-in-law, Linda Kay Walston Manning; grandchildren, Tiffany Walston, Jamie Ray, Leah McCalley; great grandchildren, Justin Nays, Lyssa Ray, Braylon Ray, Camila Ray, Natalie Simien, Jaden Dorsey, Kobe McCalley Loyd; and her great-great grandchild, Talayah Davis. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. Though she is no longer with us, the love she gave will continue through the many generations of her family and through all who were blessed to know her.

Graveside services to celebrate Linda's life are to be conducted at eleven o'clock in the morning on Friday, the 18th day of September 2026 at Chambers Day Cemetery with Marty Nash officiating the service.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Justin Nays, Braylon Ray, Jaden Dorsey, and Jonathon Simien.
