Linney Ray Patton
December 24, 1962 - August 19, 2025

It is with deep sorrow we inform you that Linney Ray Patton chose to enter into the presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 19, 2025.

The enemy may have won his mind, but our mighty God has already won the war on the cross. If you are struggling with the war in your mind, please do not give up hope. You have so much hope in Jesus. Tell someone you trust or call (1-800-273-8255).

"As it is written, "For thy sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered." No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:36-39 RSV

He will be lovingly remembered as a devoted husband to his love and his lady, Tammy Renee Patton, of 38 years. Together they built a beautiful life opening their home to anyone in need as a service to God. God blessed them with 6 children, Whitney & Andrew, Joshua & Erika, Zechariah & Haley and 7 of his favorite grandchildren, Hudson, Amos, Micah, Kate, Eden, Owen and Henry.

He was known by many as LP, but his most treasured names were Dad and Pappy. He was the absolute best Pappy. His favorite stories were always about his "sweet and innocent" babies, as he affectionately called them. He prioritized talking to them and anyone else who would listen about the love and sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

Throughout his life, Linney was known for his love of serving the Lord, deep generosity, kindness, and ability to make people laugh. His sarcastic quick wit and colorful stories will be greatly missed by all.

A traditional service will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church in Corsicana, Texas at 11:00am Saturday, August 30th. Due to the limited capacity at St. John's, we will be hosting a celebration of life at Southside Baptist Church in Palestine, Texas at 3:30pm Sunday, August 31st. You're welcome to wear black to show your grief, but we all know LP would want you to show up in style. We want to celebrate the wonderful gift he was to all of us. He brought all of us so much joy and happiness.

In lieu of flowers, Pappy would request memorial gifts may be given to Mission Dignity https://www.guidestone.org/mission-dignity/
or St. John's Episcopal Church in Corsicanahttps://sjc75110.churchtrac.com/give so that the gospel may continue to be proclaimed.

"I have said this to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world."" John 16:33 RSV

Funeral services for Linney Ray Patton are in care of Rhone Funeral Home, 3900 S. State Highway 19, Palestine, Texas. Please visit his online memorial tribute at www.rhonefuneralhome.com, where words of comfort and condolence may be shared electronically with his family.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Tammy and Family, we cannot begin to express the sorrow we have for this great loss of one of our favorite people. Linney will always be remembered for his classy attire, the many funny things he always said, his easy laugh, and dancing eyes. We hurt for you and know many friends who feel the pain of this loss. We pray for the “peace that passeth all understanding” to completely surround you as you suffer through this loss. He touched many lives and we praise God for the gift of salvation he carried and spoke of to so many. We love you all.

  2. Tammy and family.
My heart is truly broken for your family. Having known Linney from our high school years it has been my privilege to walk with him through the various stages, struggles, highs, and lows of life as we have come in and out of each other’s lives through the years. He has always been that friend who is encouraging, generous, kind, and loving. I will cherish the memories of the long conversations about Jesus, family, and friends… weekends at Blackfoot and the lake house and the phone calls just to catch up on what’s been going on. Y’all have been a blessing to our family and I am honored to call Linney my friend.

  3. My heart is broken over the loss of our precious Linney. Linney became a son to me after he became a member of our Church in Tyler at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He became a member of my family immediately and we have loved him deeply ever since. Tammy when Linney fell in love with you and we got to meet you, you also became our family. Living with us a year before the two of you married, was confusing at first because as you know, we had two Tammy Renees under our roof. Our precious daughter Tammy and then another Tammy moved in for us to love and we do.
It is impossible for me to write down the joy, laughs, fun times, and hours we all spent together that truly made my heart smile continuously. When precious Whitney called me, and told me
Linney was no longer with us, my heart broke into and it hurts like crazy. I thank God for every moment that I had with Linney and every memory I will always have in my heart and mind. I love all of you ,and just know that God will get us all through this loss of Linney. Loved so much to ever be forgotten. My love and prayers are with you ❤️ Mom #2, and now called Nana ❤️

  4. I first met Linney and Tammy in 2011 on a cruise to Turkey and Greece and subsequently on a number of visits to the US I stayed with them in I their old home in Palestine.
Then just last year I was able to introduce my new wife to him at their new place at the lake. As always they were most generous hosts and we enjoyed a great couple of days.
Tammy, our prayers are with you and your family and we count it a real privilege to have known you and Linney.
With Christian love from your Kiwi friends, Fred and Shirley

  5. Milton and Betty Conaway says:

    Tammy and family,
You are all in our thoughts and prayers.
    With loving sympathy,

  6. I worked at Gold Eye Clinic in the Rusk Office. I knew Linney, he was kind and such a good supervisor. His love for the Lord showed .

  7. Diane Beene:
I first met Linney in May of 2003. He was easy to talk to and seemed like a boss I would like to work for . Seventeen years later I thought the same. I called him Boss but, I should of called him Friend. Linney was fun, helpful, and 100% Irish. He called me his “Little Irish Friend.” I will miss him. We shared texts since I retired. Again I will Miss Him! Much love to Tammie and their Children.

  8. As a young married couple(and soon to be parents), Linney and Tammy welcomed my husband and I into their beautiful home and we became fast friends. Though I was only in Palestine for two years, we have remained friends. Linney was always gracious, kind, generous, hospitable, and wise. I loved every moment we served together in Montreal, and I will always be grateful for his invitation to join him and his team. I loved his joy and great sense of humor! I love you all, Pattons! You are in my prayers.

  9. “I’m so sorry for your loss. My heart and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time. Thank you, Mr. Lenny, for being such a great friend and for marrying us — that memory will always hold a special place in my heart. I hope you find comfort in God’s promise: He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain’ (Revelation 21:4) May you find hope and peace in His promise of eternal life.”
