  1. Madeline and I were cousins and yet, since I grew up in Illinois, we really didn’t share that “close family feeling”.  The one thing we did share was the love of music.  I was a Gospel soloist and would always tell her of my singing engagements.  She would tell me how much she enjoyed singing in the church choir.  So, we had that in common.  When she became sick, my heart was very sad.  But, I rejoice in knowing that she was a Christian and is now enjoying all the splendors of Heaven.  I will see her again when God calls me home.  My sympathy is extended to all of her family and friends who will miss her presence on this earth.  May God grant you all HIS Peace and HIS Comfort during this time of grief.  Love, Martha Dunnam – Green Valley, IL

  2. Madeline & I are first cousins and even though I have lived in Illinois all my life we kept in contact with each other and always enjoyed our visits when I went to Texas to visit family.  I was very sorry to hear of her passing but know she is now in heaven with all our loved ones.  My sympathy is extended to all her family and friends. Love, Melinda Dunnam Snyder, Green Valley, IL

  3. Aunt Scooter always had a beautiful smile and a loving heart. She was beautiful inside and out. I was raised in Okla. City, Okla. So our family didn’t see her as much as others. But when we went to visit it was such a joy to be with her.
Growing up I saw how She was a loving care giver to so many. Aunt Scooter took care of Nanny, Uncle Pete, and Devoin, and others in her family. She didn’t give birth to any children but was a mother to many nieces and nephews and so many others.
I remember Hoilday meals, home made ice cream, talking about hair styles and travels. I always felt loved at Auntt Scooters House.
I will forever treasure the 10 days I spent with her in April of this year. It was a special time for me ! Aunt Scooter was special to our children as well as my husband and I. I thank God that you are home in His loving arms and no more pain or suffering.
She will live on in my heart! Gone but not forgotten!
A niece that loved her dearly.

  7. I have known Madeline since she married my uncle Devoin Garrison. She was a very sweet lady and instantly became a part of her new extended family. She always had a smile on her face.

  8. Marshall and Atonie Dunnam says:

Aunt Scooter was a Lovely lady who will be missed by all that knew her. We will miss her warm greeting hugs and kind words ever time we visited her home.
    We love you!

  9. I have so many fond memories of Aunt Scooter. I remember visiting as a child and I loved her dogs. Taco was my first dog memory with Aunt Scooter. She always had us playing barrel of monkeys and would give us the small cokes in glass bottles. We thought that was the greatest thing. I spent a spring break with Grandma and Grandpa Dunnam and we always had dinner together and then played hours of Shanghai Rummy.

The best memory of Aunt Scooter is her smile. She was always welcoming and made everyone feel loved! She will be greatly missed.

I know she is happy to be surrounded by her siblings again. We love you and send our love!!
