Michael Ray Cubstead

Michael Ray Cubstead, age 65, of Palestine went to be with our Heavenly Father on Sunday, the 6th day of August, 2017. Mike was born on the 4th day of November, 1951 in Livingston, Texas to Ray Henry Cubstead and Hazel Maxine Henderson. He was a Baptist and retired from the oil field after a long career. Mike also served for the United States National Guard.
Mr. Cubstead is preceded in death by his parents, Ray Cubstead and Hazel Kemmerling; stepfather, Monte Kemmerling; brother, Dennis Paul Cubstead; sister, Donna Brinson and brother-in-law, Donald Wayne Brinson.
Mike Cubstead is survived by his wife, Carla Alford Cubstead; daughter, Laura Cubstead Looney and husband DeWayne of Palestine; granddaughter, Makayla Ann Kennedy of Palestine; step-grandchildren, Kevin Looney and Arielle Looney of Palestine; brothers, Steven Edward Cubstead of Grapeland, Anthony Gordon Cubstead and wife Darla of Bossier City, Louisiana; sister, Dena Ruth Paul and husband David of Palestine; numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o'clock until seven o'clock in the evening on Wednesday, the 9th day of August, 2017 in the Rhone Memorial Chapel.
Funeral service and celebration of Mike Cubstead's life will be conducted at eleven o'clock in the morning on Thursday, the 10th day of August, 2017 in the Rhone Memorial Chapel with Mark Norman and W. E. Shiflet officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Casey Cubstead, Zack Cubstead, Josh Monear, Matt Paul, Cody Alford, Craig Alford, Michael Sikes and Ray Sikes.
Funeral services for Michael Ray Cubstead are in care of Rhone Funeral Home, 3900 S. State Hwy 19, Palestine, Texas.

Carla…..we are so sorry to hear of Mike’s passing. He was such a wonderful person. We went to West Rusk Junior High with him when he lived in the Turnertown area. He was the kind of guy that left a good impression on every one he met. He will forever be in our hearts, Prayers for you and your family to help you through this time.

I am so sorry I am unable to attend the services but want to extend my condolences to all of Mike’s family. I have known Big Mike for the majority of my life. We called each other Brothers from different mothers. Wherever we went he would be called Donald & I was usually called Mike.
Mike had a heart as big as he was & will be truly missed, prayers for you Carla as you start your journey without Mike , & love & prayers for all the family. God bless you.
