  1. Rod was a very good friend-I met Rod when I was sent to down for FIELD MEDICAL SCHOOL at FT Sam Houston in 0ctober 2001. We were in the prior service class (I was a former Marine but at this point in time was in the PA Army Guard) He invited me to come up to his home about week 4 ,and that started my tradition in visiting PALESTINE and his great family! I kept Intouch with BARB (his better half) and he since graduating, visiting them several times when my wife and I visited San Antonio during vacations, from Pennsylvania. I traveled down to see Rod several years ago when Barb said he was sick but still doing ok, , and then about 2 moths ago. I sat with him , while watching GUN SMOKE in the back room and went to Tyler ,on an adventure, seeking JERSY MIKES subs for him to eat(and what an adventure that was, lol! )When I left for Dallas in the early hours of the morning to catch my flight, I said my good byes knowing that would be the last time I would see that goofy hillbilly smile. Over the years I remember arguing back and forth on FB (when we were watching football- we didn’t watch the last several years due to the stupidity) about the STEELERS- COWBOYS rivalries(note– I was a die hard BLACK AND GOLD FAN back in the day–) I will miss him, but always remember Barb, I will be there for you and the kids and when I eat Jersey Mikes, I will always SMILE and laugh!!!!! Godspeed my friend!

  2. Barbara,
I dont think anyone who knew Rodney will ever be able to think of him and not smile. He was the life of the party and we always enjoyed his company. And what a love story! You two grew up together and weathered all the storms life threw your way. What a blessing. We will be praying for you and your family during this difficult season and when its time you two will be reunited in heaven.

  4. So many memories of my fun loving neighbor. One of my favorite memories was when he and Dylan came to my rescue when an iguana fell from my patio cover next to me. He brought his critter cage over and the ensuing rodeo was hilarious. Rest In Peace my friend. You will be missed!

  5. I have many fond memories of Rodney and Barbara helping out with the band concession stand – drum line contests. I loved our first cruise with them when we took the boys and spent Stephens birthday at Jimmy Buffets Resturant in Mexico. He was there for us when Stephen passed and would always ask how we were doing and how Nathan was when I ran into him. He truly loved Barbara and his kids and was so proud of them. He will be missed.

  6. Rodney always had a beautiful smile & will be missed by many. We will be praying for the family during this time of sorrow .our condolences
