Rosemary Haney-Westmoreland
November 12, 1944 ~ January 16, 2024
Rosemary Haney Westmoreland, age 79 of Palestine, Texas, was called home by our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, after a battle with illness. She was born November 12, 1944, in Athens, Texas to Charles and Mary Nell Skiles. She graduated from Malakoff High School in 1963.
Rosemary was strong-willed and had an amazing work ethic. She spent most of her life in the medical field with many years spent at Athens Hospital and Texas Department of Criminal Justice where she retired. After retirement, she continued to work as a consultant for nursing homes in various surrounding areas.
She was the heart of her family, always there to listen, help, and take care of everyone. She put everyone else before herself. Rosemary loved spending time at the lake, farm, and having road trips and lunch dates with her girlfriends. Rosemary's days were most joyfully spent in the company of her cherished grandchildren, who were the special lights of her life. Her role as a grandmother was one she embraced with every ounce of her being; imparting wisdom and laughter in equal measure.
She is preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and one sister, Jenny Nell Eckert.
Rosemary left many memories with those she loved including her husband, Allan Westmoreland of Palestine; son and daughter-in-law Kent and Dorothy Haney of China Spring; daughter and son-in-law Kandy and Monte Huggins of Kerens; sister and her husband Davana and Johnny Eaton of Athens, brothers; Danny Skiles of Athens, Randall K and wife Cathy Skiles of Malakoff, Joe Ladd and wife Brenda Skiles of San Antiono; grandchildren, Emily and husband Derek Goodson, Hannah Huggins, Hunter Huggins, and Heaton Huggins; great grandchildren, Lexi and Luke Goodson along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life to honor Rosemary's life will be conducted on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at eleven o'clock in the morning in the Rhone Memorial Chapel.
Friends are invited to visit with the family one hour prior to the start of the service.
Cremation and memorial services for Rosemary Haney Westmoreland are in care of Rhone Funeral Home, 3900 S. State Highway 19, Palestine, Texas.

I was blessed to get to know Mrs. Westmoreland during high school as she was my friend’s mother, but even more so through work. She was beautiful, witty, and kind, with a soul you could not help but love. My heart and prayers are with her and her family. She surely left the world a better place for having been in it.
Allan, I am so sorry to read this sad news. Rosemary was a delightful person. I immensely enjoyed working with her at Beto I Unit. She was such an effervescent personality, always the life of the party. I had no idea she was ill, she definitely left this world too soon, but she sure left an impression on many. Rest in Peace my friend. 🩷
Allan: I’m so very sorry for your loss. I will keep you in prayer for comfort and peace.
Allan, Ken and I always admired and liked Rosemary. She was a lovely radiant light wherever she went, the consummate professional and encourager. God bless you and your family as you cherish her memory..
Kent and Kandy, So sorry for the loss of your precious mother. I have so many good memories of her and Cayuga girls’ basketball. She was always kind and positive, a beacon of light.
